Don't do it! Visitor counters are so 1999...

Thanks Glenn, yes I agree, would rather see the information privately and have now discovered the google analytics whic is just what I needed.
Cheers;)

Glenn, it may be so 1999, but is it possible to add a counter? I have looked at the google analytics mentioned by David which may be a solution but seems to be a bit complicated to set up (to me anyway)! Is there a simpler solution? I'd prefer the info to be private.

Hmm, I think Google will be the only option with Snappages. The only way to embed the kind of custom code that third party visitor counters would provide would be to work it into an iFrame somehow. However, this would defeat the object as the code's job is to track the loading of the page on which it is included - and if that's in an iFrame it could very easily mess up the system (as the iFrame is effectively a separate page).
Even if it would work, it would be tricky to set up, with you needing to create custom HTML pages and host them somewhere - certainly more complex than using Analytics I'm afraid.

Thanks Glenn. I'm not a "nerd" so slightly confused as to what analytics mean when they say to "Copy the following code block into every web page that you want to track immediately before the </body> tag. " What/where is </body>tag?
I only want to track the home page of my website. Can't work out precisely where to place the code! Probably incredibly simple but is there a plain english guide to this?

Oh no, you won't need to worry about any of that. Steve has already integrated Analytics into Snappages. I don't use it myself, but basically, set up an account at Google and grab the TRACKING CODE. Then go to your Snappages Control Panel -> Settings -> Analytics and enter the code. This will basically verify to Google that you own the website you want to track and your page stats will start to show up on Google's analytics site soon after (I imagine).

Unfortunately Google Analytics has not worked properly. In fact it only registered the first 2 hits,-I guestimate that by now there would have been 100+. Google's help suggestions are very complicated insofar as resolving the issue, and not geared for novices or intermediates. I have spent hours on it. Far better if snappages built in a simple counter.

If you just installed it you might want to give it some time as it can be a little behind sometimes.
Hi Lyn, I had a couple of sites that had a couple day lag as well on this - its a google thing I think. Update in a few days if it still does not show up and we can look at it again.

I Too am having problems. I have the first two hit recorded then nothing (this arrived a couple of hours after putting the code ref in). I have checked the Ref number from google and in the code for the site and both are identical. I also have the green tick in the google report so should be ok.
Just a thought - I have a .co.uk domain and snap pages does not allow transfer. I have therefore used names.co.uk to forward the page from the domain name I own to the snappage url. Is this still ok? The website works ok, just no analytics.
