Features requests

First of all : congratulations for SnapPages ! I have discovered it yesterday, and I found it very promising.
I love the design and the ergonomy.

I would have some comments though, some features that would make SnapPages the definitive killer app !

- Video storage & sharing inside the photo manager (like Twango or Phanfare)
- larger slideshows (full screen ?)
- possibility for friends to download entire albums in a ZIP file
- iCal import & export for Calendar Manager
- DeliciousLibrary import for "the Exchange" in the friend manager (or even DeliciousLibrary integration ?)
- Address Book Manager (with import/export)
- Bookmarks manager (with import/export)

What do you think ?

Thanks for all the great feedback Seb and congradulations on being the first person to post here! The forums have been a little slow to get off the ground but hopefully they will start to pick up soon. I'll have to run your blog through a translator but I'll definantly check it out.

Thanks for the suggestions too. I think some of those are doable and good ideas. I've got a lot of features planned for the future, right now though I'm trying to work on coming out with some new stuff so I'll add some of these things on my todo list.

Hi Steve !

There is one feature which would be nice to have within SnapPages : an online storage space to exchange files with friends. It would be coupled with the Photo Manager for the images (images inside the manager would be seen in the "Images" folder of the virtual HDD).
There would be the same sharing options than the Photo Manager for each folder.
The music files would be playable directly online through a new feature : Music Manager.

Nowadays many services propose 1gig of space, so it would be great if you could propose more ! :)

What do you think ?

Thanks Seb, I agree that it would be a great feature and it is something I plan on adding in the future. I have a couple other things on my list first but I'm sure I'll get to it. I've given some thought to the "music manager" and tools like that but It's going to take some more research on my part. I don't want to get lumped in with the whole illegal file sharing crowd so I'm sure there are some precautions that will need to be implemented.

OK, you are right it might be touchy to add this functionality in terms of copyright. By the way, I have two questions :
- When are planned the next features ?
- Are you alone working on SnapPages ?

1. Right now I'm working on some new calendar features. Letting you subscribe to your friends calendars and things like that. I might even add some ical import functionality but we'll see. Hopefully this will be out sometime next week.

It would be cool if there was a SnapPages "desk" summing up the news of the day : updates in the friends manager & tasks due. One logic place for this feature would be the control panel.
The control panel "desk-like" would be a homepage with date and time, the news and buttons for the online apps.

Great idea Seb. That is currently the plans for the control panel area. I always wanted to have a sort of "home base" for all the apps where you can get a quick view of upcoming events/tasks, browse through recent photos and see the latest friend updates. I didn't do it before b/c it didn't really make sense b/c before the friend manager there were only two apps. I'll probably make that my next side project to at least start getting people used to the idea.

By the way I encounter a small issue : SnapPages doesn't accept international characters, like é, è, à, ù... In french we have a lot of words wit accents (in spanish too), so is there a way to change this and be able to use these characters ? Is it a flash 9 option ?

Further to the future "desk" control panel feature, it would be great to have our bookmarks and address book entries saved into SnapPages, so that they would be available anywhere. And to complete the desk, some RSS feeds like Netvibes.
(I am dreaming of a netvibes/meebo/snappages mashup !).
I know it would be a lot of work but it can be ideas for the future...

I have tried this and it does not seem to be working. Could you please indicate whether it is supposed to and how to make it happen. My 2nd website is 100% in Spanish.

Where are the improvements? We have now 2009 October and I still can't use them.

Are there some specific improvements that you are referring to that we have not yet implemented? We have made a lot of improvements and additional features since this post was originally started so I'm not sure which ones you are talking about.

It would seem that Spanish accents are not supported? Is this on the product development roadmap?

Hi Guys,
I'm new to snappages (creating my actor website) and I'm loving it. I think something that would be amazing (and excuse me if maybe it's already available and I don't see it) would be a 'latest news' app/widget. I see it on other sites where actors can post events/news and it appears in writing. Then they just keep adding to it. That way I don't have to keep changing my posts on my homepage. :)

Also, and I don't know if this is a bug, but I'm trying to put up my resume and while it looks perfectly aligned in the edit page tab - once it's previewed or published it is badly aligned.

Great suggestion, cotsakoss! Something that SnapPages has that work very much that way is the built-in blog. You simply post new blogs and then use the blog widget on the home page and it will show the latest posts. It doesn't show a snippet of the post, but it does show the title.
